FAQ

  • What does it mean to be under "Supervision"?

Supervision is an important part of the marriage and family licensure process for emerging therapists—where an experienced therapist offers support, guidance, and feedback to help me grow both personally and professionally, ensuring I provide compassionate, effective, and ethical care to each person and family I work with.

  • Do you take insurance?

Yes! I take Ucare, Bluecross Blueshield, MinnesotaCare, Aetna, HealthPartners, and Cigna insurance. It is worth noting, even if your insurance is not listed many insurance plans offer out of network options that could be used to work with me. I encourage you to contact them directly to see if your plan includes out-of network coverage.

  • How much does therapy cost?

A diagnostic intake (55 minutes) for a new client is $225. All other standard sessions (55 minutes) are $175. I also offer appointments based on a sliding scale fee with a discount up to $75. Kate Moberg Therapy accepts cash, check, or credit card. Payment is due directly after services are rendered.

  • How do I get started?

Contact me via email or phone to set up an initial appointment. Prior to your appointment we will send you a link to register and complete intake forms through our Electronic Health Record (EHR), Therapy Appointment.

  • Do you offer faith based therapy?

My christian faith is a meaningful part of my life and shapes the way I approach others—with empathy and humility. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and am respectful of each person’s individual beliefs. For those who desire it, I am happy to incorporate faith-based perspectives, prayer, or spiritual reflection into the therapeutic process in a way that feels supportive and collaborative.

  • I'm part of the LGBTQ+ and/or BIPOC community—will therapy with you be a safe space for me?

Yes. I strive to provide a space where all aspects of who you are—your race, culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, faith, and lived experiences—are honored and affirmed. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel seen, heard, and valued.

  • How long and how often are therapy sessions?

Sessions are 55 minutes long and typically held once a week. Meeting consistently helps build a strong therapeutic relationship and creates momentum for meaningful growth and change.

  • What can I expect if my adolescent starts therapy?

To start off, I ask that a parent or guardian join the first 15-20 minutes of the adolescent’s initial session. This gives us a chance to connect, share important information, and make sure we’re all on the same page as we begin this journey together. After that, your teen will have their own private time in the session. How much parents are involved going forward really depends on what feels right and helpful for your family. Everything shared in sessions is kept confidential unless there are concerns about safety — your teen’s trust and well-being are always my priority.

  • What if I have to miss a session?

We know life happens and sometimes you might miss a session. That’s why we offer five (5) free missed sessions each year (January to December) — no need to reschedule and no charge. After that, if you miss a session and can’t reschedule it within the same week, there will be a $100 missed session fee. This fee applies no matter the reason — whether it’s work, travel, illness, or anything else. Please note that insurance and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) don’t cover missed session fees. To make things easier, we also offer virtual sessions if you can’t make it in person. And if you do reschedule within the week, it won’t count as a missed session. We hope these options help keep things flexible and make it easier to avoid any extra fees.
